BioI wanted to be a rocket scientist. My goal was to build the ships that my grandchildren would ride to visit me on Mars. Unfortunately, I sucked at mathematics and science. Too many errors for an error-prone person.
Humoring an old notion, I got into the newspaper racket, first as a film reviewer for the teen section, then as an assistant to an editor, and finally as a reporter. I had a desk and everything. I was 17.
By 19, I was completely burned out and sensing the sinking of the proverbial ship. I gave my two weeks notice and put all of my focus back into college.
Now? I'm 25, graduated from college, and attempting to figure out how film students make money with near-worthless degrees, and trying, ever so slowly, to grow a life of my own. That probably sounds more interesting than it really is.
